PETITION under Article 226 of The Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus to call for the records of the respondent in Goods Detention Notice No.552/16-17 dated 7.8.2016, quash the same and direct the respondent to release the goods.

ORDER

Mr.S.Kanmani Annamalai, learned Additional Government Pleader accepts notice for the respondent. Heard both. By consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

2. The petitioner has challenged the goods detention notice dated 7.8.2016 issued by the respondent.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is ready and willing to pay one time tax, as he requires release of goods immediately. He further submits that the goods may be directed to be released.

4. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent does not oppose the relief sought for by the learned counsel for the petitioner.

5. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the petitioner to pay one time tax, as quantified https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

by the respondent, which shall be done within 24 hours of the receipt of the copy of this order. On such payment, the goods and the vehicle shall be released forthwith. It is open to the petitioner to work out his other remedies under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Value Added Tax Act, 2006.
