Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, praying to direct the Respondents to close the complaint in Crime No.764 of 2017 registered by the first respondent and transferred to the file of the Second Respondent as Quashed in consonance with the orders passed by this Court on 28.04.2018 in Crl.OP No.4796 of 2018. ORDER

This petition has been filed for a direction to the first respondent to close the case in Crime No.764 of 2017, in view of the fact that the proceedings itself was quashed by an order dated 28.04.2018 in Crl.O.P No.4796 of 2018.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that eventhough the FIR has been quashed, the portal shows as if the case is still pending. As a result of the same, the first petitioner is not in a position to renew his passport.

3. This Criminal Original Petition is disposed of with a direction to the first respondent to immediately take steps to ensure that the Tamil Nadu Police Citizen Portal is updated by showing the status of the case as "quashed". This process shall be completed within a period of one week from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
