This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the first respondent to act upon the application submitted by the petitioner on 09.05.2025 wherein the petitioner is seeking for renewal/re-issuance of passport.

2. Heard Mr.R.Vivekananthan, learned counsel for petitioner, Mr.R.Sanjay, learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing for first respondent and Mr.Leonard Arul Joseph Selvam, learned Government Advocate [Crl.side] appearing for second respondent.

Learned Government Advocate [Crl.side] appearing on behalf of the second respondent submitted that a First Information Report came to be registered in Crime No.587 of 2019 on the file of second respondent for offences u/s.147, 148, 294(b), 324, 307, 506(2) and 34 IPC. Learned Government Advocate [Crl.side] further submitted that 2/4

investigation has been completed and police report has been filed before the XVIII Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet and the same is yet to be taken on file.

4. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and considering the fact that there is no case pending as on date against the petitioner and taking note of the judgment of the Division Bench in W.A.No.902 of 2023 dated 02.06.2023, there shall be a direction to the first respondent to act upon the application submitted by the petitioner and renew and re-issue the passport if the petitioner satisfies all the other requirements. This process shall be completed by the first respondent on or before 07.07.2025. This writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
