ORDER : The Court Made the following order :-

ORDER

(The case has been heard through video conference) The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 15.10.2021 for the offences under Sections 420, 465, 468, 471 of IPC read with Section 12(1-A)(a), 12(1)(b) of Passport Act, 1967, in Crime No.01 of 2021, seeks bail.

2.The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner who is a Srilankan Refugee, has obtained Indian Passport illegally by producing forged documents at the Regional Passport Office, Trichy, in the year 2019. Hence, the complaint.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner married an Indian woman and subsequently, he was issued Aadhaar Card, Voter ID and other residential proofs as Indian Citizen and he has committed an offence as alleged by the prosecution and that the petitioner has been suffering incarceration for more than 25 days from 15.10.2021. Hence, he prays for grant of bail to the petitioner.

4.The learned Government Advocate raised strong objection stating that the investigation is in progress.

5. Considering the nature of offence and the fact that the investigation is in progress, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
