This Writ Petition has been filed for a mandamus seeking for a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.08.2022 seeking for appointment as Director, Institute of Neurosurgery, Madras Medical College, Chennai.

The petitioner is a Professor and Head of the Department of Neurosurgery in Government Stanley Medical College. According to him, he is the senior most neurosurgeon, who is eligible to be appointed as Director, Institute of Neurosurgery, Madras Medical College, Chennai. He has given a representation on 10.08.2022 seeking for appointment as Director, Institute of Neurosurgery, Madras Medical College, Chennai. 3.

No prejudice will be caused to the respondents if the petitioner's representation dated 10.08.2022 seeking for the relief sought for in this Writ Petition is considered on merits and in accordance with law, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. 3/5

Learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents has also not raised any serious objection if such a direction is issued by this Court.

For the foregoing reasons, this Court directs the respondents to pass final orders on merits and in accordance with law on the petitioner's representation dated 10.08.2022 seeking for appointment as Director, Institute of Neurosurgery, Madras Medical College, Chennai, within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.

With the aforesaid directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
