O R D E R

This Writ Petition is filed for a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 2 nd respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 21.05.2025 and dispose of the same on merits within the time prescribed by this court. Page No.1 of 5

2. The petitioner is a senior citizen aged about 82 years. The petitioner is running a laundry business for the past 50 years in the name and style of 'Indian Dry Cleaners' having its business at New Avadi Road, Chennai and branches in Porur, Tiruvallur. The petitioner allocated his Porur branch to his th son, Mr.Sathakathullah. The petitioner states that after the demise of his wife on 09.10.2022, his son drove away the petitioner from the business premises and transferred the ownership of the Porur branch, of the business, in his name independently. Even the petitioner's name was removed from GST and other government records. When the petitioner questioned his son about his fraudulent activities, he physically abused the petitioner. Hence, the petitioner lodged a complaint to the Inspector of Police, Avadi police station.

However, no action was taken. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation to the 1 st respondent, on 24.02.2025. The said representation was forwarded to the second respondent for necessary action. Thereafter, the second respondent issued summons on 11.03.2025, for conducting an enquiry. The petitioner submitted a detailed statement to the second respondent, for Page No.

swift action against his son as per the provisions of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007. Despite the petitioner's statement and appearance in the enquiry, the second respondent did not take any further action. Therefore, the petitioner submitted multiple representations. Even thereafter, no action was taken and hence, the petitioner filed the above writ petition for the above stated relief.

3. Heard both side counsels and persued the materials placed on record.

4. This writ petition is taken up for final hearing with the consent of both side learned counsels.

5. In view of the above said facts and circumstances of the case and considering that the petitioner is a senior citizen aged about 82 years, I am inclined to direct the second respondent, to conduct an enquiry on the petitioner's representation dated 24.02.2025, and thereafter pass orders on Page No.3 of 5

merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. In the result, this Writ Petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
