ORDER
The petitioner claims that she is a daughter of a bus conductor of Tamil Nadu State Road Transport Corporation (Kumbakonam) Ltd., The petitioner has applied for admission to MBBS / BDS UG Course 20232024, and as per the prospectus for the government quota, 30 seats were reserved for the wards of the employees of IRT at Government College, 2/6
Perundurai. On scrutiny of her application, it was observed that the petitioner omitted to claim under the special reservation for IRT Ward category. Hence, the petitioner is before this Court seeking a mandamus to direct the respondents concerned to consider her candidature under the special reservation for IRT Ward category.
2. Heard Mrs.M.Sneha, learned counsel appearing for the third respondent. This Court suo motu impleads 'The Director, The Institute of Road Transport, Taramani, Chennai', as the sixth respondent and Mr.C.Gauthamaraj, learned counsel takes notice for the impleaded sixth respondent.
3.The learned counsel appearing for the third respondent on instructions submitted that the list of candidates for the reservation for the wards of the employees of IRT must be routed through the Institute of Road Transport, and the Institute of Road Transport has already circulated its list of candidates on 26.07.2023 and 27.07.2023.
4. The learned counsel appearing for the sixth respondent on instructions 3/6
submitted that the petitioner's father is a senior grade conductor at State Transport Corporation, Pattukottai Branch, and submitted if the candidature of the petitioner is found eligible, her name may be included.
5. The petitioner is now required to approach the Director, the Institute of Road Transport (IRT) forthwith, the sixth respondent herein. The sixth respondent is required to take a decision on the same and release the supplementary list if the candidate satisfies all the necessary requirements. It is also made clear that a mere issuance of any supplementary list by the sixth respondent per se will not be adequate to disrupt the ongoing counselling process, unless any dates are changed or extended by the third respondent.
