No: 6514, Block No: 140 of Thyagaraya Nagar Division, within the limits of Corporation of Chennai without insisting permission from the concerned local politicians.

O R D E R

After several adjournments and interim directions, at last the Corporation of Chennai has passed an order on 06.04.2016 granting permission for cutting the road to enable the C.M.W.S.S.B. to lay the water and sewerage line. This order imposes a condition for remitting Rs.1.70 lakhs being the amount payable as restoration charges.

Mr. J. Thennavan, Junior Engineer and Mr.P.Gnananchandran, Assistant Executive Engineer of the Corporation of Chennai are present in Court. This Court has questioned them as to who has to restore the road to its original position. The officials submitted that it is the duty of the Corporation of Chennai to do so and they have assured that as soon as te work is completed by C.M.W.S.S.B., they will restore the road to the original condition. This submission is placed on record. While cutting the road and laying the pipes for the Water and Sewerage connection, the authorities shall ensure that it causes minimum dislocation to the traffic in the said road.

3. With the above direction, the writ petition stands disposed of. Connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. There shall be no orders as to the costs.
