The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 4(1)(A), TNP Amendment Act, 2024 in Crime No.94 of 2024, on the file of the respondent Police, seeks anticipatory bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner was found in possession of 180 ml of 35 Brandy Bottles. Hence the case.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been falsely implicated in this case. He further submitted that the petitioner is ready to abide by any stringent condition that may be imposed by this Court. Hence, he prayed for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

4. Learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent police reiterated the prosecution case and opposed for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

5. Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record.

6. Considering the gravity of the offence, nature of the contraband seized and the stage of the investigation, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner at this stage. 2/4
