Respondents (In both writ petitions) Writ Petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay interest for the belated payment of Provident Fund, Gratuity, Encashment of Earned Leave, Surrender Leave, Commuted Value of Pension @12 % per annum, within a specified time as may be fixed by this Honourable Court and pass such orders accordingly.

The instant writ petitions have been filed with a prayer for issuing a Mandamus to direct the respondents to pay interest @12% p.a for the belated payments of Provident fund, Gratuity, and encashment of Earned Leave etc. 2.The learned counsel for the petitioners would submit that the petitioners had retired on superannuation on various dates and they have been settled of the Terminal benefits on various dates as per the details given below:

In this connection, the petitioners have sent representations on various dates to the respondents seeking interest for the belated payment of the terminal benefits such as gratuity, Provident fund and Earned Leave etc. However, there was no response for the same.

3. At this juncture, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents would submit that they would pay interest @ 6% pa as ordered in the similar writ petition.

4. Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

In such view of the submission made by the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest @ 6% p.a. for the belated payment of the terminal benefits such as gratuity, Provident fund and Earned Leave etc. within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order.

6. In the result, Both the Writ Petitions are disposed of with the above directions. Consequently connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. No costs.
