By consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

2.The petitioner was served with a notice by the passport authority, as to why his passport should not be impounded. The petitioner has shown cause through his representation and also requires whatever action proposed to be dropped. 3.Mr.K.Ramanamoorthy, the learned Central Government Counsel has taken notice for the respondent and makes a statement on instructions that the present representation for dropping action vis-a-vis contemplated impounding of petitioner's passport is premature, since the authority is yet to take a decision as to whether petitioner's passport at all needs to be impounded. The learned counsel submitted that even the enquiry on the show cause notice is not complete.

4.This Court, now directs the passport authority to give the petitioner a right of hearing before taking a final decision on the show cause notice it has issued. 5.This writ petition stands disposed of accordingly. No costs. 2/4
