Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to include the name of the petitioner in the panel of Inspectors fit for promotion as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category-I) for the year 2017-2018 issued in G.O.Ms.No.1006, Home (Police-2) Department, dated 16.08.2018 at Sl.No.17A by considering the representations of the petitioner's dated 27.03.2025 and 30.04.2025 and consequently include the name of the petitioner in the above panel and him as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category-1) from the date on which his junior P.Abdul Gafoor was promoted, together with all consequential service and monetary benefits.

The instant writ petition has been filed with a prayer for issuing a Mandamus to include the name of the petitioner in the panel of Inspectors fit for promotion as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category-I) for the year 2017-2018 issued in G.O.Ms.No.1006, Home (Police-2) Department, dated 16.08.2018 at Sl.No.17A by considering the representations of the 2/6
petitioner's dated 27.03.2025 and 30.04.2025 and consequently include the name of the petitioner in the above panel and promote him as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category-1) from the date on which his junior P.Abdul Gafoor was promoted, together with all consequential service and monetary benefits.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that he is entitled to be considered for the promotion in the year 2017. However, it was delayed on account of the pendency of the criminal proceedings, and disciplinary proceedings were over, whereas, the petitioner was acquitted in the disciplinary proceedings. Though major penalty was imposed, subsequently the same was modified by this Court. It is the further submission of the petitioner that he ought to have been considered for promotion for the year 2017. In this connection, the petitioner has sent representation on 30.04.2025 claiming promotion and such representation is pending with the respondents.
3. At this juncture, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would fairly submit that they would consider the petitioner's 3/6
representation within a reasonable time.
4. Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the above submission, without going into the merits of this Writ Petition, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 30.04.2025 and pass orders on its own merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. In the result, this Writ Petition is disposed of with the above observations. No costs. Consequently, connected Writ Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
