This writ petition has been filed for the issue of writ of Mandamus directing to the respondent to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 02.01.2024 wherein the petitioner is seeking for granting increment and other consequential benefits.

The petitioner is working as a Sub Inspector in the police department. Certain proceedings were initiated against the petitioner and punishment was also awarded on four occasions. All those punishments were set-aside by the respondent by virtue of a revision petition that was filed by the petitioner. As a consequence, there is no punishment pending against the petitioner. It is under these circumstances, the petitioner made a representation dated 02.01.2024 to the respondent to grant increment and other consequential benefits. Since the representation made by the petitioner did not evoke any response, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court seeking for appropriate directions.

Heard Mr.R.S.Jain Le Sadmar, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.V.P.R.Elamparithi, learned Additional Government Pleader for respondents.

Taking into consideration the limited relief sought for in this writ petition and without going into the merits of the case, there shall be a direction to the respondent to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 02.01.2024 and deal with the same on its own merits and in accordance with law and take a decision within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of the copy of this order.

The petitioner is directed to make a fresh representation to the respondent along with all relevant documents and also a copy of this order. 3/4
