The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 07.09.2021 for the offences punishable under Section 5(i)(m) r/w Section 6 of POCSO Act, 2012 @ Sections 366, 344, 376 A,B and Section 5(1)(m) read with Section 6 of POCSO Act, 2012 in Crime No.7 of 2021 on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that he is not pressing the application for grant of bail. However, he would submit that a direction may be issued to the trial Court to complete the trial within a specified period.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent would submit that the case has been taken up for trial in Special.S.C.No.194 of 2021 on the file of the Special Court for Exclusive Trial of Cases under POCSO Act, Chennai and the case has been posted https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

rgi to 13.09.2022 for examination of L.W.1 and that there are 12 witnesses in this case.

4. In view of the above said submission, this Court is of the view that a direction may be issued to the learned trial Judge to complete the trial as expeditiously as possible.

5. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed as not pressed and the learned trial Judge is directed to complete the trial as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four months from 13.09.2022.
