O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the learned Judge, Special Mahila Court, Chengalpet, to dispose of the case in S.C.No.74 of 2016, within a period of six months.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the first respondent police.

3. The petitioner is the husband of the deceased and father of the eyewitness who is said to be a six years old child. The accused in this case are facing trial for various offences including one under Section 302 IPC in S.C.No.304 of 2016 before the Special Judge, Mahila Court, Chengalpet.

4. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the accused is in custody. Under such circumstances, the trial Court is directed to complete the trial in S.C.No.74 of 2016 expeditiously within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. When the child witness is examined, the trial Court shall ensure that sufficient protection to the witness including putting up a screen as directed by the Supreme Court in Sakshi Vs Union of India [AIR 2004 SC 3566].

6. With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is closed.
