The petitioner has filed this writ petition by challenging the order issued by the second respondent dated 28.08.2004.
2. The brief facts of the case are as follows: While the petitioner is working as Assistant Professor in the first respondent university, the first respondent issued an advertisement dated 24.03.2006 to fill up the two vacancies in the post of Professors in Mechanical Engineering. The petitioner also filed a writ petition in W.P.No.22101 of 2006 seeking for the same relief and challenged the advertisement dated 24.03.2006 made by the first respondent and the same was dismissed on 18.07.2006.

3. During the year 2003, when the vacancy arose for the post of professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr.V.Sundareswaran was selected without following 100 point roster system. Thereafter, in the year 2004, when another vacancy arose in the department of Mechanical Engineering, the petitioner constested along with the second respondent for the said post which was shown in the general category following 100 point roster system. Second respondent was selected as professor.
4. While entertaining the writ petition, this Court has not granted any interim order. In the absence of any interim order, the Second respondent completed his probationary period and thereafter he was promoted to various posts and finally he was appointed as Vice Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai. The petitioner also acquired various promotional posts.
5. In view of the subsequent development, nothing survives for adjudication in this writ petition. Accordingly, this writ petition is dismissed as infructuous. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs.
