O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed to direct the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representation, dated 12.07.2021, and consequently, to direct the 2nd respondent to sponsor the petitioner's name for employment in any one of the Department in the Government under Destitute Widow Category.

2.It is the case of the petitioner that she is a Destitute Widow and she is working as Coolie and struggling hard to eke her livelihood. The petitioner states that she possesses a Destitute Widow Certificate dated 23.06.2014 obtained from the Revenue authorities. The petitioner seeks appointment in Government service under Destitute Widow Category. Hence, the writ.

3.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.V.Jeevagiridharan, learned Additional Government Pleader, who takes notice for the respondents.

4.It is relevant to note that priority is being given to Destitute Widows in recruitments to Government Service as per the Rules in force. However, even without applying for any post in Government Service, there cannot be a general direction to appoint the petitioner in any post under Destitute Widow Category. In such view of the matter, this Court is not inclined to pass any such general directions. It is for the petitioner to apply for any Government job, which notifies reservation under Destitute Widow Category and in that case, if she is otherwise eligible, she shall be considered.

5.Except giving this clarity, no positive directions can be passed in this writ petition. Accordingly, this writ petition is dismissed. No costs.
