Respondent (Crime No.938 of 2016) PRAYER: Criminal Original Petition is filed under Section 482 of Cr.P.C to direct the Principal District Court, Coimbatore to modify the order passed in Crl.MP.No.2581 of 2016 dated 02.11.2016 to accept the ration card as surety instead of produce two sureties each to the value of Rs.10,000/-. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent.

2. It is seen that the petitioner was granted anticipatory bail in Crl.MP.No.2581 of 2016 on 02.11.2016 by the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Coimbatore on condition that the petitioner shall execute a bond for Rs.10,000/- with two sureties. Seeking modification of the said condition, the petitioner is before this Court on the ground that he was not able to get any surety for the said sum of Rs.10,000/-.

3. It is seen that this petitioner is involved in Crime No.938 of 2016 for offences under Sections 294(b), 323 and 506 (i) IPC and he is 19 years old.

4. Under such circumstances, the surety amount of Rs.10,000/- is reduced to Rs.5,000/- with an additional condition that one of the sureties should be his parent. Rest of the conditions imposed by the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Coimbatore shall remain the same.

5. Two weeks time from the date of receipt of a copy of this order is extended to surrender before the Judicial Magistrate No.6, Coimbatore. In the event of the petitioner absconding during trial, a fresh FIR can be registered against him under Section 229-A IPC.
