Respondents (The fifth respondent is suo motu impleaded by the order of this Court dated 10.08.2023 by NSSJ) PRAYER: The writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 08.05.2023 and further direct the 4th respondent to issue a fresh Transfer Certificate, SSLC & HSC Mark Statements by correcting the Father's name as "Sivakumar" instead of wrongly mentioned as 'Kumar' in the Transfer Certificate issued by the 4th respondent. ORDER

By consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

2.The petitioner has approached this Court some 6 years after the completion of his schooling, complaining that his father's name has been wrongly recorded in his school certificates. This is now required to be corrected. 2/6

3.Mr.V.Manoharan, the learned Additional Government Pleader has taken notice for the respondents. He circulates G.O.(Ms)No.177, School Education, dated 23.12.2021 and submitted that in terms of the G.O. for making any such correction, a student has to first approach the school where he has passed his schooling with his request and this request has to be forwarded by the concerned Principal /Head Master to the C.E.O., who after fact verification will make recommendation to the Director of School Education. 4.This Court now suo motu impleads the Chief Educational Officer, Chennai as the 5th respondent.

5.The petitioner is now required to make a fresh representation to the 4th respondent and the 4th respondent is required to forward it to the C.E.O./5th respondent in terms of the aforesaid G.O.(Ms).No.177 dated 23.12.2021 within a period of two (2) weeks from the date on which the petitioner prefers his representation, and once it reaches the C.E.O. the C.E.O. is required to complete whatever enquiry that is contemplated within a period of eight (8) weeks and make suitable recommendations to the Director of Government Examinations. 3/6

6. This writ petition stands disposed of accordingly. No costs. 10.08.2023 Tsg Index : Yes / No 4/6
