The petitioner herein is a released convict. When the case against him was in trial, History Sheet has been opened against him, but still not been closed.

The grievance of the petitioner is that after his release on 26.01.2023, he is living a peaceful life without indulging in any act of crime. However, the police not closed the History Sheet and opened 1/4

against him. Since it is not closed till date, the jurisdictional police frequently harassing him and had issued summon on 24.04.2024 to execute a bond under Section 110 Cr.P.C., for maintaining good conduct. 3.

The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police submits that only one case was registered against this petitioner which was ended in conviction and after intervention of the Division Bench of this Court in Crl.A.No.567 of 2012 dated 17.03.2016, the life imprisonment imposed on the petitioner was modified to imprisonment for a term of 10 years and fine of Rs.5,000/-. On completion of period of sentence, the petitioner was released on 26.01.2023, since then he has not fallen under the adverse notice of the police.

In view of the above submissions, this Court finds no reason to summon the petitioner to execute a bond under Section 110 Cr.P.C., just because the History Sheet opened against him. The respondent police should follow Police Standing Order 747 & 748 to consider whether the name of the petitioner should be still in the live register of the History Sheet or should be removed.

Hence this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of directing the respondent police to consider the representation given by the petitioner on 24.07.2024 sent through register. Thus, to remove his name from History Sheet register and pass appropriate orders within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 08.08.2024 Index : Yes/No rpl To 1.The Inspector of Police, V3, JJ Nagar Police Station, Chennai-600 101.
