The learned Principal District Judge, Ariyalur in letter dated 23.01.2021 made a request to grant six months time for the disposal of O.S.No.227 of 2018. Undoubtedly, certain reasons are stated for nondisposal of the case within the time limit granted by this Court. Pandemic situation may be a ground. However, the Courts are expected not to grant adjournments in routine manner atleast hereafter. Adjournments are to be granted only on genuine grounds and by recording reasons. Contrarily, either of the parties to the lis cannot be allowed to prolong and protract the matter by seeking adjournments on certain filmsy grounds. Any such idea or intention can never be encouraged by the Courts. Thus, the Courts are expected to be cautious while adjourning the matter in a mechanical manner. In view of the facts and circumstances and considering the pandemic situation, this Court is inclined to grant six months time for the disposal of the suit.
