Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to constitute a Tiruppani Committee for the performance of the Kumbabishegam of Arulmigu Meenakshi Chokkanadhar Murugan Swami Thirukovil as requested in the representation dated 05.07.2016 and to take appropriate steps within in a time stipulated by this Honourable Court. By consent, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal.

2. The petitioner claims to be a devotee of Arulmigu Meenakshi Chokkanadhar Murugan Swami Thirukovil at Mettur Dam, Salem District and the said temple is under the control of HR & CE Department, Salem. The grievance expressed by the petitioner is that the maintenance of the temple is not properly done by the authorities concerned and the statue of small deities have been damaged and no Kumbabishegam has been performed for a quite number of years and it is further stated by the petitioner that despite the fact that the temple has received sufficient income, https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

no steps have been taken to perform the said important function. The petitioner, in this regard, has submitted a representation dated 11.05.2016 to the respondent, based on which, the Commissioner, HR & CE sent a communication to the first respondent to take appropriate action and inform the same to the petitioner and despite that no response is forthcoming. The petitioner also sent a reminder dated 05.07.2016 and since no orders have been passed as to the performance of the said function, came forward to file this Writ Petition.

3. Heard the submissions of Mr.M.Devaraj, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.M.Maharaja, learned Special Government Pleader, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.

4. Though the petitioner prayed for a larger relief, this Court in the light of the above facts and circumstances and without going into the merits of the same, directs the first respondent to act on the communication of the Commissioner, HR & CE Department, Chennai-34 in Na.Ka.No.22700/2016/Q3, Dated 25.05.2016 as well as the reminder representation dated 05.07.2016 in accordance with law and pass orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken to the petitioner. This Writ Petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs. Sd/- Asst. Registrar.
