The Petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to issue a renewed Licence and to give laminated identity card including the petitioner's name in the list of Govt. of India Approved guides (list of names) and Circular IndTour/Chennai/Guides 2003 dated 10.11.2003.

2.There is no representation for the petitioner. Heard the learned Assistant Solicitor General appearing for the respondents.

3.The petitioner is the holder of a valid licence approved by the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism, and he had licence issued by the Regional Director (South), Chennai, for Southern Region since 1983. The said licence should be renewed every two years as per the Rules and Regulations regulating the conduct and performance of Approved Guides. The petitioner's licence was renewed periodically without any problem till 31.12.2002. Thereafter, the petitioner made application for approval of licence. Since no action was taken, the petitioner filed this writ petition for Mandamus directing the first respondent to issue a renewed licence.

4.Today, this case came up before this Court, but there was no appearance for the petitioner. The learned Assistant Solicitor General appearing for the respondents, on instructions, submitted that the petitioner's name has been included in the list of approved Regional Level Guides in Tamil Nadu, approved by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and the petitioner's name is placed at serial no.13, and he also produced the list for perusal of this Court. Recording the said statement, since the petitioner's name was already included in the list of approved Regional Level Guides in Tamil Nadu, approved by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, this writ petition is dismissed as infructuous as nothing survives for adjudication in this writ petition.
