..Respondent(s) Prayer : Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, praying for issuance of writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the petitioners representation dated 11.05.2026 and consequently extend/renew the petitioners licence for collection of parking fees in respect of Rajiv Gandhi Bus Stand Parking Area, puducherry, for a further period of one year with enhancement/revision in accordance with prevailing norms and applicable rules, so as to compensate and offset the losses suffered by the petitioner on account of the acts and omissions of the respondents.

ORDER

The petitioner has approached this Court seeking a direction to the respondents to consider her representation dated 11.05.2026, wherein she requested extension/renewal of the licence granted for collection of parking fees in respect of the two-wheeler and four-wheeler parking facility at the Rajiv Gandhi Bus Stand, Puducherry. It is stated that the petitioner was initially granted the licence for the period from 01.12.2024 to 31.03.2026, which was subsequently extended up to 30.06.2026.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the respondents have not yet finalised the process for awarding the licence through a fresh auction and, therefore, the petitioner may be permitted to continue collecting the parking fees until the auction process is completed.

3. Per contra, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that an e-auction was conducted on 22.06.2026, in which the petitioner's husband participated but was not the successful bidder. It was further submitted that the successful bidder quoted a sum of Rs.6,30,000/-, which is higher than the amount quoted by the petitioner in the previous auction.

In view of the above submission, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim, the first respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 11.05.2026, on its own merits and in accordance with law, and pass appropriate orders within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, the writ petition stands disposed of. Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
