Writ Petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to extend the benefits of G.O.(MS) No. 58 Adi Dravidar & Tribal Welfare Department, dated 24.07.2014 by considering the petitioners representation dated 18.01.2019 respectively.

Selvam (For R2) Government Advocate (in all W.Ps) C O M M O N O R D E R These Writ Petitions have been filed by the petitioners, seeking for the issuance of Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to extend the benefits of G.O. (Ms) No. 58 Adi Dravidar & Tribal Welfare Department, dated 24.07.2014 by considering the petitioners representation dated 18.01.2019 respectively.

2. These Petitioners, having worked in the respective Adi Dravidar & Tribal Welfare High Schools, retired as Head Masters on attaining their respective age of Superannuation. By G.O. (Ms) No. 58 Adi Dravidar & Tribal Welfare Department, dated 24.07.2014 the Government of Tamil Nadu had extended certain benefits regarding fixation of salary in the Selection Grade/ Special Grade in respect of Head Masters of Higher and Elementary Schools. After lapse of five years, the petitioners have made a representation on 18.01.2019 to the respondents, seeking to extend the benefits of G.O. (Ms) No. 58 Adi Dravidar & Tribal Welfare Department, dated 24.07.2014. Since, no action has been taken by the authorities despite their representation, the petitioners are before this Court.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioners would submit that the petitioners are entitled to the benefits extended in G.O. (Ms) No. 58 Adi Dravidar & Tribal Welfare Department, dated 24.07.2014 and they also made representations to the respondents but no orders were passed and they are still pending. Therefore, the learned counsel for the petitioners would urge this Court to direct the respondents to consider the representations and pass appropriate orders within a reasonable time.

4. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents submits that such representations of the petitioners shall be examined and a considered decision on the same shall be taken within a reasonable period, if the same is pending.

5. Hence, regard being had to the aforesaid facts and submissions made, this Court disposes of the Writ Petitions with a direction to the respondents concerned to consider the representations of the petitioners dated 18.01.2019, with regard to the extension of the benefits of G.O.Ms.No.58 Adi Dravidar & Tribal Welfare (ADW7) Department, dated 24.07.2014 as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. However it is made clear that this Court has expressed no opinion on the merits of the representation.

6. With the above direction these Writ Petitions are disposed of. No costs.
