Respondents Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issue of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, to call for the records in G.O.(D) No.304 RD (E6) Department dated 02.06.2003 on the file of the first respondent and proceedings in Roc.No.2524/2003/N2 dated 27.03.2003 on the file of the second respondent and to set aside the punishment order in G.O.(D) No.304 RD (E6) Department dated 02.06.2003 as null and void and proceedings in Roc.No.2524/2003/N2 dated 27.03.2003 on the file of the second respondent and set aside the same in so far as by which the petitioner is denied promotion and consequentially issue directions to the respondents to consider, promote and post the petitioner as Deputy Block Development Officer on the date on which his immediate junior included and promoted for the said post from the panel year 1.3.2001 with service and monetary benefits.

ORDER
Mr.S.Shanmugam filed O.A.No.1490 of 2004 before the Tamil Nadu Administrative Tribunal, Chennai challenging the punishment order and the denial of promotion to the petitioner. Thereafter, the matter came on transfer and renumbered as the present writ petition. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
2. When the matter was taken up, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that during the pendency of the matter, the petitioner was subsequently given promotion to the post of Deputy Block Development Officer and he retired from service on 31.7.2006 and that he was paid with all the terminal benefits and thereafter he also passed away on 14.11.2014. Therefore, nothing survives in the writ petition.
