and 170/8 at Ezhumedu Village, Panruti Taluk, Cuddalore District, till the standing paddy crop cultivation is completed, accepting the payment from the petitioner of any lease amount fixed by the 3rd respondent for the period till harvest based on the repeated representations of the petitioner. ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a mandamus forbearing the respondents from taking any coercive steps to evict the petitioner from the subject property, which is an agricultural land and to grant extension of period of lease to the petitioner, based on the representation made by the petitioner.

2. Heard Mr.M.Purushothaman, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner and Mr.N.R.R.Arun Natarajan, learned Special Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondents.

3. The grievance expressed by the petitioner is that the subject property was leased out in the name of the petitioner's father in law for the period ending 30.06.2025. There are standing crops available and in the meantime, steps are being taken by the respondents to auction the property and to take over the portion of the property.

4. In the considered view of this Court, admittedly, the period has already come to an end on 30.06.2025, and the petitioner does not have any legal right to seek for extension of time. At the best, the petitioner can also participate in the auction conducted by the respondents. Except giving this clarity, no further orders can be passed in this writ petition.

5. This writ petition is disposed of in the above terms. Consequently, W.M.P.No.27958 of 2025 is closed. No costs.
