ORDER

(This case has been heard through video conference) This petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of mandamus, directing the first Respondent to remove the name of the petitioner from History Sheet No.386 on the file of Inspector of Police Annamalainagar Police Station, by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 20.10.2021.

2.The petitioner had sent a representation dated 20.10.2021 to the respondents, stating that the retention of the petitioner's name in History Sheet No.386 is violative under Article 21 of the Constitution of India. The respondents, despite receipt of the petitioner's representation, have not taken any action.

3.Mr. E.Raj Thilak, learned Additional Public Prosecutor submits that the petitioner is a history sheeter having two cases to his credit. The petitioner submits that his limited prayer is only to consider his representation on merits and to remove his name from the history sheet.

4.In view of the same, the 1st respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 20.10.2021 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
