O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by P.N.PRAKASH, J.] This petition has been filed seeking a direction to third respondent police to produce the detenue viz., the petitioner's

mother D.Priya aged 39 years, wife of (late) Mr.Dasarathan, before this Court and set her at liberty.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that his mother, Priya, aged about 39 years, went missing from 25.10.2021 and that the police are not taking effective steps to secure her. 3.Today, Mr.R.Balasubramani, Inspector of Police, Gummidipoondi Police Station, is present.

4. On instructions, Mr.R.Muniyapparaj, learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that, Priya was a member of Roja Self Help Group for Women, in which, she is said to have collected amount from various persons and was under pressure from them to return the amount. Therefore, she went hiding from 25.10.2021, pursuant to which, on a complaint given by her husband Dasarathan, a case in Gummidipoondi Police Station Crime No.389/2021 was registered on 26.10.2021 for 'woman missing'. However, when people from whom Priya had borrowed money started putting pressure on Dasarathan, he committed suicide on 31.10.2021, in connection with which, a case in Gummidipoondi Police Station Crime No.393/2021 under Section 174 Cr.P.C. has been registered.

Be that as it may, we direct the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gummidipoondi, Sub-Division to supervise the investigation in Gummidipoondi Police Station Crime No.389 of 2021 and keep the petitioner informed of the developments, if any. As and when the detenue viz., Priya is secured, she shall be produced before the Judicial Magistrate, Gummidipoondi, under intimation to the petitioner. On such production, the learned Magistrate shall pass appropriate orders with regard to the custody of the detenue.

With the above direction, this Habeas Corpus Petition is closed.
