This writ petition has been filed by the Petitioners seeking a direction to the Respondent herein to change the name in the property tax pertaining to the Scheduled mentioned property from previous owner to the Petitioners.

2. Mr.P.Balathandayutham, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice on behalf of the respondent.

3. By consent of the parties, the main writ petition is taken up for disposal at the admission stage itself.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the subject property was jointly purchased by the Petitioners in the year 2017 and though the patta, chitta and Adangal were transferred in the name of the Petitioners, the property tax was still in the name of the erstwhile owner 2/6

i.e., one Sugumar (late). He further submitted despite an application being submitted to the Respondent on 07.02.2024 to transfer the name in the property tax from the erstwhile owner to the Petitioners, along with required fee, the Respondent has not taken any steps to transfer the name in the property tax and hence the petition.

5. The learned Special Government Pleader (Taxes) would submit that the application made by the Petitioner may be directed to be disposed of by the Respondent within a stipulated time.

6. Heard both sides. Perused the records.

7. Considering the submissions made by the learned counsel for the Petitioner as well as the Respondents and since the Petitioner also paid the necessary fees for transfer of name in the property tax, this Court directs the Respondent to dispose of the application of the Petitioner dated 07.02.2024 on merits and in accordance with law,within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 3/6

8. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of. There is no order as to costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
