PRAYER : Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, praying to direct the learned Judicial Magistrate I, Erode to dispose of C.C. No.166 of 2022 within a stipulated time by this Court.

This Criminal Original petition has been filed for a direction to the Court below to complete the proceedings in C.C.No.166 of 2022 within the time frame fixed by this Court.

2. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that there are totally 4 accused persons in this case and 20 witnesses will have to be examined on the side of prosecution. In the meantime, discharge petition has been filed by the accused persons and the same is pending from 08.02.2023.

3. In the light of the submissions made by learned Additional Public 2/4

Prosecutor, there shall be a direction to the Judicial Magistrate I, Erode to dispose of the discharge petition pending, within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Depending upon the order passed in the discharge petition, the main proceedings shall be taken up and disposed of as expeditiously as possible.

This Criminal Original Petition is disposed of with the above direction.
