It is seen that the petitioner is having a running battle with a mafia group, on account of which, an attempt was made on the life of the petitioner and he escaped by a whisker.
2. Under such circumstances, the petitioner has come with this petition for a direction to the respondent police to give police protection for him and his family members, as threat to his life is imminent.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, submitted that the police have registered two cases in Crime No.140 of 2016 and Crime No.594 of 2016 against the members of the rival gang and eight persons. Sixteen accused out of Seventeen accused have been arrested, and some of them have been detained under the Tamil Nadu Act 14 of 1982. That apart, a gunman has been provided for the petitioner from 20.08.2016 temporarily.
4. In view of the above, this Court cannot interfere with the decision of the executive, in a case of this nature. Hence, nothing survives in the present writ petition and therefore, the same is closed. No costs.
