ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for the issue of writ of Mandamus directing the 1 st respondent to deal with the application submitted by the petitioner on 12.06.2025 wherein the petitioner is seeking for issuance of passport in the name of the petitioner.

Heard Mr.S.Kamadevan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.K.Gangadaran, learned Central Government Standing counsel for 1 st respondent and Mr.V.Meganathan, learned Government Advocate[Crl. Side] for nd respondent.

The learned Government Advocate appearing for the 2 nd respondent submitted that FIR came to be registered in Crime No.103 of 2019 against the

petitioner and investigation has been completed and the police report is yet to be filed before the concerned Court.

The 1 st respondent is not processing the application submitted by the petitioner only on the ground that there is an FIR pending against the petitioner. The pendency of the FIR against the petitioner cannot be a ground to deny the issuance of passport to the petitioner. The law on this issue is now too well settled.

In view of the above, there shall be a direction to the 1 st respondent to deal with the application submitted by the petitioner on 12.06.2025 and issue the passport in the name of the petitioner, if the petitioner has satisfied all the other requirements. This process shall be completed within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.

This writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
