O R D E R

This revision has been filed as against the order passed in Crl.M.P No.27 of 2024 in S.C No.105 of 2023, dated 12.02.2025 thereby dismissed the petition filed seeking for supplying of charge sheet in translated version in vernacular language i.e. Telegu.

2. The petitioner is arrayed as 1st accused in S.C.No.105 of 2023. He did not know the language of Tamil. He knows only Telegu and he is from Andhra Pradesh. Therefore, before framing of charges, the petitioner filed a petition seeking the charge sheet in a vernacular language i.e. Telegu. However, it was dismissed on the ground that the counsel who appeared on behalf of the petitioner knows Tamil and also Telegu. Further, the petitioner can also able to understand a little bit of Tamil language and he is able to give instructions to his counsel to defend his case.

3. In view of the above, this Court is inclined to set aside the order passed by the trial Court and direct the trial Court to furnish the chargesheet in translated version in vernacular language to the petitioner i.e Telegu. It is made also clear that the trial Court has framed charges 2/4

and as such, no need to frame another charge. The trial Court is also directed to serve a copy of the charges in Telegu and proceed with the trial.

4. Accordingly, this Criminal Revision is allowed and the order dated 12.02.2025 passed in Crl.M.P No.17 of 2024 in S.C No.105 of 2023 by the learned Sessions Judge, Mahila Court, Chengalpattu, is hereby set aside. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
