The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 13.06.2023 for the offences punishable under Sections 341, 394 and 397 I.P.C. in Crime No.236 of 2023 on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that, petitioner is falsely implicated as an accused in Crime No.236 of 2023 for the offences Section 341, 394 and 397 I.P.C. Petitioner is in judicial custody from 13.06.2023. Thus, he prays for grant of bail. 3.In response, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that defacto-complainant is working as post-woman. On 02.01.2023, at about 2.45 p.m, she was travelling in a cycle from Trichy to Chennai National Highway near HH 5 KRJIL milestone. At that time, two persons aged 35 and 30 waylaid her showing knife, threatened her to kill and snatched two sovereigns of gold chain from her. 4.Considered the rival submissions and perused the records. 5.Considering the nature of offence alleged to have been committed by the petitioner, and the fact that petitioner has seventeen similar cases pending against him, this Court is of the view that if petitioner is released on bail, there is a possibility of his committing similar offence again. In such circumstances, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
