O R D E R

By consent of both the learned counsel for the parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal, at the admission stage itself.

2. The instant writ petition has been filed with a prayer for issuing a 1/4

Mandamus, directing the Respondent to sanction, authorize and disburse the Petitioner's Pension and other retirement benefits by reckoning his last pay drawn in the post of Hindi Officer with interest at the rate of 12% per annum from the date of retirement to till the date of actual disbursement within a time limit to be stipulated by this Court.

3. Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner was working as Hindi Officer in the Respondent-University and he retired from service on 30.10.2017. However, his retirement benefits have been arrived at the last post of Senior Assistant. Hence, he has sent a representation on 10.02.2025 to the respondent claiming revision of his terminal benefits based upon his last drawn salary and such representation is pending with the respondent.

5. At this juncture, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the 2/4

respondent would submit that the petitioner was a temporary and ad hoc employee and therefore, he is not entitled for any pension. However, she would fairly submit that if there is any representation sent by the petitioner, they will consider the same according to it's own merits and in accordance with law.

In such view of the submission, without going into the merits of the writ petition, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.02.2025 and pass orders on it's own merits and in accordance with law, within a period of three months from the date of receipt of copy of this order.

7. With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. 22.07.2025 Index : Yes/No Speaking order /Non Speaking Order dm To The Registrar, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry-605 004.
