Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Certiorari, to call for the entire records of the impugned order of the 3rd respondent in No.F/Admn.III/ES/Vacation/2023, dated 10.08.2023 and quash the same.

ORDER

By consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

2.The petitioner was granted license to do his business as a cycle mechanic within the campus of IIT Madras. This license term expired on 02.08.2022, and the same has not renewed. Therefore, the petitioner has made a representation to the first respondent for extension of the term, and seeks a direction to the first respondent to consider his representation.

3.Mr.E.Manoharan, the learned counsel for the petitioner made a statement, on instruction, that the petitioner now confines his prayer to a mere direction granting another two months period to vacate the premises.

4.Learned counsel for the respondents 1 to 3 submitted that a two-month period will be too long. This is because the first respondent needs to make alternate arrangements for the benefits of the students and the faculty members, most of whom use cycles within the campus. 5.After weighing the rival submissions, without getting into the controversy more, and to spare the first respondent of the botheration of spending his time in considering such representation, this Court itself now fixes a time as one month from today for the petitioner to vacate the premises.
