Heard the Learned Counsel for the Petitioner and the Learned Counsel for the respondent.

2. The petitioner herein is a Diploma holder in Civil Engineering obtained through Indira Gandhi National Open University. He has completed the course in the year 2012. A Legal issue was raised regarding validity of Diploma and Degree certificates given by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and ultimately, the Hon'ble Supreme Court has gave quietest to this issue vide judgment dated 30.07.2018 upholding the validity of the Diploma and Degree granted by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in respect of students who got enrolled prior to the academic year 2009-2010. The petitioner who intend to join higher studies through Lateral Entry made representation to the respondent/Directorate of https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

Technical Education, Chennai, to issue equivalent certificate in view of the Hon'ble Supreme Court judgment. The representation was sent on 24.07.2019. Hence, the present Writ Petition is filed seeking direction to the respondent to consider the said representation.

3. The Learned Special Government Pleader for the respondent would states that the equivalence certificates are issued based on the subject offered by the other Universities viz a viz., the subjects offered by the Universities in Tamil Nadu.

4. Annually or as the case may be, committee is constituted to consider the equivalence request. The case of the petitioner will also be considered, when the equivalence committee meets.

5. The Learned Counsel for the respondent also submits that taking note of the urgency in the matter, the equivalence committee will be constituted, within a period of three weeks, from today, and appropriate orders will be passed.

6. Recording the same, the Writ Petition is disposed of. The respondent is hereby directed to consider the request of the petitioner, dated 24.07.2019 and pass appropriate orders, within a period of three weeks. No costs.
