By consent of both the learned counsel for the parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal, at the admission stage itself.
2. The instant writ petition has been filed with a prayer for issuing a Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.01.2025 sent to the 2nd respondent and to forthwith promote the petitioner notionally as Executive Engineer from the year 20182019, with all service benefits.
3. Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner was appointed as Assistant Engineer in the RespondentsDepartment on 12.06.2000 and he was promoted to the post of Assistant Executive Engineer on 22.03.2013. Thereafter, the petitioner has been recorded as outstanding from the year 2014 onwards and he would come within the category of the Exceptional Merit in accordance with Rule 19 (2)(b) of the Tamil Nadu Engineering Service Special Rules, 1985. Though the petitioner was promoted to the post of Assistant Executive Engineer, he was included for the promotion of the year 2022, whereas, according to the petitioner's Exceptional Merit, he has to be considered, as if he was promoted during the year 2018 and in this connection, he has sent a representation to the 2nd respondent on 10.01.2025 and such representation is pending with them.
5. At this juncture, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that they would consider the petitioner's representation in accordance with law, within a reasonable time. 3/6

In such view of the submission, without going into the merits of the writ petition, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the 2nd respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.01.2025 and pass orders on it's own merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
7. With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. 15.07.2025 Index : Yes/No Speaking order /Non Speaking Order dm 4/6
