Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent No.2 to allow the remand and under-trial prisoners to remain outside their cells during the daytime in accordance with Rule 817 of the Tamil Nadu Prison Rules, 2024.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) This public interest litigation cannot be entertained by a person who himself has come out of Jail as on the date of filing of the petition.

2. If the petitioner has any case where jail inmates are not being allowed to get the benefit of Rule 817 of the Tamil Nadu Prison Rules, 2024, the same may be brought to the notice of the Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority and Puducherry Legal Services Authority. If any such complaint is registered with such authority, appropriate steps shall be taken to ensure compliance of Rule 817 of the Tamil Nadu Prison Rules, 2024.
