ORDER
This writ petition has been filed for the issue of writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to extend the mining lease to the petitioner for a further period of 50 years up to 21.09.2059 as per Section 8A(3) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act [hereinafter referred to as the MMDR Act]. 2.
When the writ petition was taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondents produced the written instructions received from the Deputy Director of Geology and Mining, Tiruppur. On going through the same, it is seen that the representation made by the petitioner seeking for extension of lease has already been forwarded by the Deputy Director of Geology and Mining through the Commissioner of Geology and Mining, Chennai to the Government to declare the mining lease as lapsed as per section 4 A (4) of the MMDR Act, 1957
and the same is pending before the Government. 3.
In the light of the above development, there shall be a direction to the 2nd respondent to co-ordinate with the Government and convey the decision taken to the petitioner within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 4.
This writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
