ORDER

The writ petition is filed for a writ of Certiorari, for quashing the order dated 06.08.2024, thereby granting provisional admission to the petitioner in the self-financing quota and to issue an order of admission in the Government quota.

Upon hearing the learned counsel for the petitioner and perusing the affidavit and other material records of the case, the grievance of the petitioner is that the petitioner's daughter S.Gayathri has got a cut-off mark of 170. She also belongs to the Backward Class quota. The petitioner's daughter is a poor candidate and the parents are finding it extremely difficult to pay the huge fee amounting to Rs.1,12,000/- per term for B.Sc. (Agri.) in the payment quota seat.

3. As a matter of fact, some of the candidates who got lesser marks than the petitioner's daughter have been accommodated in the Government quota and therefore the petitioner is before this Court.

In reply thereto, a counter affidavit is filed wherein it is stated that no candidate who got lesser marks than the petitioner's daughter in the Backward Class category has been accommodated in the Government quota. The one candidate pointed out by the petitioner, namely Aranganathan, who also belongs to the Backward Class but scored 169, was admitted only in B.Sc. Horticulture and not in B.Sc. Agriculture. The last Backward Class candidate who got admission in B.Sc. Agriculture had secured 170.5 marks.

5. In view thereof, the petitioner's daughter was not unduly superseded or denied her seat on merits. In view of the categorical submissions made on behalf of the respondent in the counter affidavit, I do not find any merit in the

grievance that can be redressed by this Court. However, in the affidavit it is pleaded that the petitioner's family is residing in a small village and is very poor.

In view thereof, if the petitioner applies for any educational loan, the same shall be considered by the appropriate bank and the loan shall be disbursed so that the petitioner's daughter, S.Gayathri, continues her studies without any hiccup whatsoever. On the part of the respondent college, the authority shall also empathetically look into the case and if any scholarship or other facility can be extended to the poor student, the same shall be done as per procedure in accordance with law.
