PETITION under Article 226 of The Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to provide permission to conduct village folk dance and other cultural programs on 25.9.2016 at Arulmigu Sellandiamman Temple existing at Parali Village, Namakkal. ORDER

Mr.R.S.Selvam, learned Government Advocate accepts notice for the respondent. Heard both.

2. The petitioner seeks a direction to the respondent to provide permission for conducting folk dances and other cultural programmes in a temple festival.

3. This Court is not the Authority to issue any such direction as to how the law and order should be maintained in the locality and it is for the Inspector of Police to take a decision on the petitioner's request, which decision should be undoubtedly in public interest.

4. With the above observation, the above writ petition is dismissed. No costs.
