Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to pass orders on the application of the petitioner dated 20.04.2018 and 26.10.2021 requesting for the issuance of community certificate to the petitioner and his children viz., N.Lakshmi Sudarsan and N.Nameetha that they belong to 'Kurichchan (ST)' Community.

(The Order of the Court was made by K.KALYANASUNDARAM, J) The Writ Petition is heard through video conferencing.

2. Heard Mr.S.Doraisamy, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.K.V.Sajeev Kumar, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.

3. The petitioner has filed this Writ Petition for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to pass orders on the application of the petitioner dated 20.04.2018 and 26.10.2021.

4. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would state that the petitioner belongs to Kurichchan Community, which is a scheduled tribe community. Though the petitioner has sought for community certificate in the year 2011 and despite a direction issued in W.P.No.10937 of 2011, the community certificate of the petitioner was not issued so far. According to the learned counsel, the application of the petitioner ought to have been disposed of within a period of two weeks as per the Government Order.

5. The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondent would state that an enquiry on the application of the petitioner already commenced, the petitioner appeared before the respondent on 04.12.2021 and sought 20 days time for production of documents.

6. Taking note of the above facts, the respondent shall pass orders on the application of the petitioner within a period of two weeks from the date on which the petitioner furnishes the documents required.

7. With the above directions, the Writ Petition is disposed of.No costs.
