ORDER
This writ petition has been filed challenging the impugned communication dated 24.04.2025 issued by the 1 st respondent and for a consequential direction to the 1 st respondent to reissue the passport to the petitioner by correcting the spelling of the petitioner's father's name.
2. Heard Mr.K.Govi Ganesan, learned counsel for the petitioner, Mr.J.Rajesh, learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the 1 st respondent and Mr.V.Meganathan, learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing on behalf of the 2 nd respondent.
3. The application submitted by the petitioner for correcting the spelling of the petitioner's father's name has been kept on hold by the 1 st respondent on the ground that there is a criminal case pending against the petitioner in Crime No.659 of 2019 which was investigated by the 2 nd respondent.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the matter has been compromised since the offence involved is under Section 304 A of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
5. In the considered view of this Court, even if a criminal case is pending, the petitioner is only seeking for correction of his father's name and correction in the address and the pendency of the criminal case cannot be a ground to deny these requests made by the petitioner.
6. In view of the above direction, there shall be a direction to the 1 st respondent to process the application submitted by the petitioner and to do the necessary corrections and reissue the passport to the petitioner. This process shall be completed within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

7. In result, this Writ Petition is disposed of in the above terms.
