ORDER

(1)Mr.R.Thamaraiselvan, learned Standing counsel accepts notice on behalf of the respondent. With the consent of both learned counsels, the main writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself. (2)The writ petition is filed for a writ of mandamus directing the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 12.05.2025, for conversion of Shop No.N-94 to N-124 in Periyar Vegetable Market, Koyambedu Wholesale Market Complex, Koyambedu, Chennai 600 107 in accordance with the orders passed by this Court on 08.03.2000, in WP.No.4004 of 2000, within a time limit fixed by this Court.

(3)The petitioner applied to the respondent for allotment of a shop in Application No.1760 on 09.03.2007. Pursuant to the petitioner's application, the respondent allotted a shop in Shop No.N-94 to the petitioner by fixing the sale consideration at Rs.5,31,295/-, and which consideration, the petitioner states that she paid fully. The petitioner also obtained license for the said shop under the Tamil Nadu Specified Commodities Markets [Regulation of Location] Act, 1996. The petitioner states that the shop allotted to her, was located in an interior place with no loading and unloading points nearby. The petitioner further states that as the shop failed to generate business proportionate to her investment, she submitted a representation to the respondent on 12.05.2025, for conversion of shop from Shop No.

N-94 to N124, by citing the benefit of conversion extended to similarly placed persons. Since, no action was taken on the petitioner's application for conversion, the petitioner filed the above writ petition for the aforesaid relief. (4)Heard both the learned counsels and perused the materials placed on record.

(6)Accordingly, the respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 12.05.2025, seeking conversion of shop, on merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the same to the petitioner.
