O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed challenging the impugned communication dated 24.06.2025 received from the first respondent and for a consequential direction to the first respondent to issue fresh passport to the petitioner.

2. Heard Mr.S.Sairaman, learned counsel for petitioner, Mr.R.Sanjay, learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing for respondents 1 and 2 and Mr.V.Meganathan, learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) appearing for third respondent.

3. When the matter was taken up for hearing today, learned Government Advocate [crl.side] appearing on behalf of the third respondent submitted that a First Information Report came to be registered in crime No.581 of 2007 in which the petitioner was shown as an accused. Ultimately, the investigation was completed and a closure 2/4

report as action dropped has been prepared on 05.02.2025. It is submitted that the police is in the process of issuing notice to the de facto complainant before filing the closure report before the Court.

4. In the light of the above development, there can be no objection for the first respondent to process the application submitted by the petitioner seeking for issuance of passport. Hence, there shall be a direction to the first respondent to process the application submitted by the petitioner and issue fresh passport to the petitioner, if the petitioner satisfies all the other requirements. This process shall be completed within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

This writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
