ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed for direction directing the second respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 21.08.2023 in view of the G.O.(Ms) No.188 dated 28.12.1976.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents and perused the materials available on record.

3. The respondent had issued a Notification No.01/2022 dated 13.10.2022, thereby called for an application to the post of the Salesmen and the Packers. The total number of seats for the Salesmen is 167 and Packers is 15. The petitioner applied for the said post.

4. However, she was not selected and the selection list was published only on 14.08.2023. The petitioner also claimed employment on the basis of the G.O.Ms.No.188 dated 28.12.1976, thereby, given preference to the employment to inter-caste marriage spouses. Without considering the same, the petitioner was not selected.

The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that on 13.10.2022, in Thiruvarur District, the respondent published a notification through District Recruitment Board for the vacancy of 167 Salesmen and 15 Packers. The eligibility criteria for the Salesmen was pass in 12th standard and for the Packers was pass in 10th standard. For the Salesmen post 7858 applicants and for the Packers post 1095 applicants had applied through on-line. Among this, 5458 applicants for the post of Salesmen and 540 applicants for the post of Packers attended the interview. The provisionally selected persons list was published on 14.08.2023. Accordingly, the appointment order was issued on 14.08.2023 itself. Insofar as, the petitioner is concerned, she applied for the Salesman post and attended the interview on 15.12.2022.

She had mentioned that she is an inter-caste marriage candidate. Out of the 5458 candidates, only 62 candidates had applied under the category of intercaste marriage priority. Out of the 62 inter-caste marriage candidates, only 7 were selected in this priority which is nearly 11.3%. However, the petitioner had scored weightage mark as 28.25 and interview mark as 29.33 totally 57.

inter-caste marriage candidates and overall rank is 1572 out of 5458. Therefore, she was not selected for the said post.

6. In view of the above, the representation submitted by the petitioner cannot be considered and the writ petition is devoid of merits and is liable to be dismissed. Accordingly, this Writ petition stands dismissed.
