This petition has been filed seeking a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's educational loan application dated 02.07.2016 and consequently direct the respondents to grant loan to the petitioner for his education.
2. The petitioner, having passed the Higher Secondary Examination securing 1050 marks and joined 4 year B.E. Marine Engineering course in Vel's Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies, Pallavaram, Chennai on 03.08.2015, applied for educational loan for a sum of Rs.6,99,600/- to the third respondent on 02.07.2016, by submitting appropriate documents. However, the petitioner's loan application dated 02.07.2016 has not been considered, compelling the petitioner to approach this Court.
3. Heard Mr.N.Subramani, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, Mr.P.Sanjay Gandhi, learned Additional Government appearing for the first respondent and Mr.P.Sreenivasulu, learned counsel for the second and third respondents.
4. Mr.P.Sreenivasulu, learned counsel appearing for the second and third respondents would submit that if the loan amount exceeds Rs.4 lakhs, surety has to be necessarily given by the petitioner. He would further submit that inasmuch as the petitioner has not given any surety, his loan application was not considered.
5. At this juncture, the learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that he would restrict his loan within Rs.4 lakhs.
6. In view of the above submission, the petitioner is directed to give a fresh application giving the details of the amount sought for within one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and on receipt of such application, the third respondent is directed to process the same and pass appropriate orders within two weeks thereafter.
With the above direction, this petition is disposed of. No costs.
