The petitioner/A1 seeks bail in Crime No.98 of 2023 registered by the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(C), 29(1) & 25 of NDPS Act, and he had been arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 17.03.2023.
2. The petitioner is the 1st accused, who was found in possession of 22 Kgs of ganja. It is stated that A2, A3 and A4 were found in possession of 10 Kgs of ganja each.
3. It is stated that the final report had been filed and the same had been taken cognizance by the Principal Special Court under EC & NDPS Act, Chennai, as C.C.No.484 of 2023.
4. One of the ground raised by the learned counsel for the petitioner is that copies under Section 207 Cr.P.C., had not been given but the status report had been read over by the respondent wherein, it is stated that one of the accused is still to engage a counsel to proceed with the case. 5. Taking into consideration the quantity seized being commercial quantity, at this stage, I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed.
